ABOUT ERIN
THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME WOOD SORREL
As a kid, I spent countless hours in the woods with my dad, learning which plants were safe to eat, which ones to avoid, and even how to make paint from nature. One day, I stumbled across a patch of delicate white flowers and asked him what they were. “Wood sorrel” he told me. “They look fragile, but they’re tougher than they seem—kind of like you.”

At the time, I didn’t fully understand what he meant. It took years of navigating life’s challenges to recognize the resilience he saw in me that day. That moment stuck with me, shaping the way I see myself—and now, the way I work with others. Wood Sorrel Wellness is a reflection of that belief: that we all have strength beneath the surface, even when we don’t feel it, and that growth doesn’t mean becoming someone new—it means reconnecting with who you’ve been all along.
MY BACKGROUND & APPROACH
My journey has taken me from the woods of Western New York to the heart of Boston, where I built my career as a therapist, educator, and coach. Since 2004, I’ve worked in schools, community organizations, and private practice, helping people navigate everything from trauma and grief to anxiety, burnout, and major life transitions.
Fifteen of those years were spent in urban school systems, supporting students and families in crisis—an experience that taught me how to stay steady in the storm and reinforced my belief in the power of human connection. I’ve also taught at the graduate level, training future therapists, and built a thriving private practice that reflects my passion for helping people move through the hard stuff and come out stronger on the other side.

Through it all, my work has been guided by a few core beliefs:
-
Therapy should feel human. I bring expertise, but I also bring warmth, curiosity, and the ability to laugh at life when needed.
-
Healing isn’t about ‘fixing’—it’s about understanding. You are not a problem to be solved.
-
Growth happens in the space between self-compassion and challenge. I’ll meet you where you are, but I won’t hesitate to nudge you forward as you're ready.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the power of awareness, connection, and choice. Growth begins when we slow down, get curious about our own patterns, and develop the tools to move through life in a way that feels aligned.
Healing isn’t just about the past—it’s about learning how to show up in the present and move forward with clarity and confidence. Whether through therapy or workshops, my goal is to create a space where you feel supported, challenged, and empowered to make the changes that matter most to you.

WHAT BRINGS ME JOY
Outside of work, I care deeply about feminist and environmental causes and try to stay engaged in ways that align with my values. I also love:
-
Great music—the kind that makes you think, feel, or dance (preferably all three).
-
Good dogs—especially mine, who’s currently training to be a therapy dog.
-
Being outside—summer evenings, long walks, and quiet moments in nature.
-
My family—motherhood is one of the most intentional experiences of my life, and I try to soak it all in.
-
Old friends—the ones who know you at your core and remind you of who you are.
